Beach Closed

 Beach Closed

Queenscliffe Beach Australia October 2022

I almost called the 'Sign of the Times', but decided not to: I'm not a warrior, and as a hermit and monk my job is to pray with a detached attitude and without getting entangled with the ways of the material world. Mind you, I am still a conscious and compassionate person so I'm going to sometimes form judgements.

City Skyline Noir

City Skyline Noir

Sydney Australia September 2022

Cities paradoxically are ideal places for hermits to live. Surrounded by life yet it's possible to remain a recluse. Which for those many people who haven't chosen the secluded life but are forced by circumstances to be alone, is one of the big negatives of big cities. I don't ever forget that.

Winter Wood Harbourside

 Winter Wood Harbourside

Sydney Australia September 2022

Well actually Spring has come but not yet for this particular tree down by the harbourside. Mind you it's a new Spring for me: newly arrived in the city, ready for a new phase, a new hermitage and another dimension to my service

Golden Buddha on the Balcony Ledg

Golden Buddha on the Balcony Ledge

Sydney Australia September 2022

The old aphorism 'Don't forget to look up' is worth talking notice of sometimes. Here a so-called chance glance upwards was rewarded with this little vision of the Lord Buddha.

Harbourside Tidal Pool

 Harbourside Tidal Pool

Sydney Australia September 2022

There are many Tidal Pools along the east coast of Australia. Not only on the coast either: A number of them are located inside the beautiful harbour around which Sydney sits. They are often very quiet (especially on week days) and can be lovely spots for quiet meditations. Not to mention safe and appealing places to swim.

Little Raven On Winter Wood

Little Raven On Winter Wood
Broken Hill Australia August 2022

One of the walks the hermitage residents took in that desert place passed a century old church. Outside that church stands this tree. And on this tree sat this bird. Beauty everywhere. A tree, a bird, a blue sky with pink clouds of approaching sunset makes for an almost abstract scene. Sometimes the material world 'Ain't so bad' to coin a phrase.
