Actually it's a Kookaburra, but as Kookaburras are in fact very large Kingfishers, that's my favourite way of referring to them. I think this one is having a rest:the nearest body of water is about half a kilometre away.

One of the walks the hermitage residents took in that desert place passed a century old church. Outside that church stands this tree. And on this tree sat this bird. Beauty everywhere. A tree, a bird, a blue sky with pink clouds of approaching sunset makes for an almost abstract scene. Sometimes the material world 'Ain't so bad' to coin a phrase.
